Adobe has announced the acquisition of Rilo, an Indian startup specializing in artificial intelligence for marketing intelligence. This marks Adobe's second acquisition from India, following its purchase of Rephrase.ai in 2023. While the specific financial details of the transaction remain undisclosed, the deal encompasses both technology licensing and the integration of Rilo's team into Adobe's operations.

The strategic move is expected to bolster Adobe's capabilities in automating marketing workflows. In today's rapidly evolving digital landscape, companies are increasingly relying on AI to streamline various aspects of their marketing efforts, from content creation and deployment to campaign tracking and performance analysis. Rilo's innovative technology focuses on these areas, enabling businesses to derive actionable insights from meetings and calls, and to enhance brand visibility across major AI platforms like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude.

Rilo, established in 2025 by IIT alumni Georgi Boby and Dhruv Jaglan, successfully raised $1 million in funding from investors including Peak XV, DeVC, and Day Zero Ventures, achieving a valuation of $10 million. Reports indicate that the investors will see a return on their investment, and Adobe plans to incorporate Rilo's intellectual property along with its six-member team. Prior to the acquisition, Rilo provided tools for go-to-market teams to develop customized workflows, including competitive intelligence, content repurposing and distribution, and comprehensive sales call analysis, akin to functionalities found in platforms like Claude Cowork and ChatGPT Work. Following the acquisition, Rilo's services will cease to be independently available to its customer base.

Industry observers believe this acquisition will significantly enhance Adobe's customer experience and marketing suite, particularly in managing complex workflows and offering clients deeper insights into their creative platform activities. This sentiment was echoed by Rahul Gupta, managing partner at Day Zero Ventures, who expressed enthusiasm for Rilo's rapid acquisition by Adobe, highlighting the value its workflow builder product brings to a large enterprise like Adobe in improving customer engagement and operational efficiency. The acquisition also positions Adobe to maintain its competitive edge against rivals such as Canva, which has also been actively expanding its marketing automation and AI capabilities through various acquisitions and new product launches, alongside tech giants like Amazon, Google, and Meta, all of whom are investing heavily in AI-driven marketing solutions.

This strategic acquisition by Adobe signifies the growing importance of AI in transforming marketing practices and the company's commitment to integrating advanced intelligence solutions into its product ecosystem. By bringing Rilo's expertise in-house, Adobe aims to provide more sophisticated and efficient tools for its enterprise customers, reinforcing its position in the competitive creative and marketing software market.
